Synopsis[]
The scene opens up to Angelica encountering a spider on the kitchen counter next to where she wants to get the cookies from. She calls out for her uncle Stu, startling him and prompting him to come over to the kitchen to see what the problem was. In the process, he drops his bowl of popcorn on the floor. He proceeds to trap the spider in a glass bowl as Angelica comments the spider as scary before taking the cookies off of the counter.
Meanwhile, Tommy eats the remnants of his father's popcorn off the floor. Just as he comments that he doesn't know what his father was eating, he suddenly hiccups, causing the other babies' skyscraper built out of blocks to topple over.
Angelica tries numerous times to scare Tommy to get rid of his hiccups, but her cousin is too brave and she ends up scaring Chuckie instead. She finally decides to build a "Super Duper Scare Machine" made from objects around the house as a last attempt to scare Tommy. Whilst Angelica is making her scare machine, Tommy asks Chuckie to help him to be as scared as him, with little success.
Finally, Angelica lures Tommy to her scare machine which she has set up in the basement, with the others following. However, the scare machine falls to pieces on top of a screaming Angelica. Phil and Lil tell her that the scare machine worked as it scared Angelica herself. Angelica shakes this off in denial and Tommy and Chuckie find out to their delight that Tommy's hiccups are gone after Tommy was afraid of Angelica getting hurt and he thanks her.
As the babies leave, Angelica growls in frustration and realizes that now, she has the hiccups.
Trivia[]
- This was one of two exclusive-to-video episodes on the Dr. Tommy Pickles VHS. It said on a round sticker it was an exclusive-to-video cartoon which would not air before 5/13/1998.
- There is no medically known cure for hiccups, except for patience. If you wait a while, they will go away.
- Just before Angelica gets the hiccups near the end of the episode, her growling sound from "The Slide" is re-used.
- Stu is the only parent to appear in this episode.
- Despite being a Season 5 episode, "Hiccups" appears on the Season 4 DVD, likely due to it being produced alongside Season 4 episodes according to its production code.
